Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- On the noteworthy date of 10/10/10, while activists across the globe were uniting for 350.org’s Global Work Party, a Hartbeespoort community led by Henning and Thea Holm of Omnibus Engineering gave a push to local grassroots activism and environmental education by donating ten water tanks to local schools to promote rainwater harvesting.

Omnibus Engineering was joined on this project by JoJo Tanks and DOH Hardware Brits who facilitated the donation of the enormous 5000 litre water tanks and their installation at each of the ten schools throughout Hartbeespoort. Thea Holm was happy to report that what started out as an idea to give one school a rainwater tank quickly spread to a community effort to harvest rainwater and save their environment.

The community representatives gathered at Meerhof School to see where the first of the tanks was installed and Pieter du Plessis of JoJo Tanks was on hand to explain the importance of harvesting rainwater - he says that with their new 5000 litre JoJo tank, Meerhof School will now be able to go 72 days out of the year without having to use energy to pump regular water. With an impending water crisis nationwide, this is sure to make a difference in the lives of the Meerhof schoolkids.

But Hartbeespoort’s part in the Global Work Party isn’t stopping because 10/10/10 is over - Omnibus Engineering and JoJo Tanks are encouraging, businesses, schools and homeowners alike to go and get rainwater tanks of their own from DOH Hardware Brits, to start conserving their own water.

By buying a tank at DOH Hardware Brits, customers will be contributing to the School Tank Fund, which will ultimately be buying more rainwater tanks for underprivileged schools throughout the Hartbeespoort area - this is one campaign whose life cycle will never end, as long as we keep conserving rainwater.
