Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- ecoVeritas Limited, an Oxford-based environmental consultancy, has been employed by the John Lewis Partnership (JLP) in a move by the JLP to consolidate their compliance with the UK’s Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations. Starting in September 2010, ecoVeritas is providing calculation and data collection services to both Waitrose and John Lewis, the two major divisions of the JLP.

As a signatory to Courtauld Commitment 2, Waitrose has also committed to trying to reduce the total weight and carbon impact of its packaging by 2012. ecoVeritas will also be assisting Waitrose in this area.

The JLP has already employed ecoVeritas for the past seven years to perform packaging waste calculations for all John Lewis department stores in the UK. The new contract notably adds Waitrose, the JLP’s chain of 234 grocery stores, to the list of high-calibre clients now employing ecoVeritas’ packaging waste, WEEE, and battery services.

Richard Hughes, Managing Director of ecoVeritas, said, “We are delighted to be asked to provide data services to Waitrose as the remaining piece of the John Lewis Partnership. They are a market leader in CSR [corporate social responsibility] issues, and we share their concern and passion for the importance of data accuracy in environmental reporting.”

By appointing ecoVeritas, a fast-growing business built on strong ethical principles, to conduct their packaging waste calculations, the JLP is satisfying their aim to “work with…suppliers to help them build sustainable businesses, commercially, ethically and environmentally, and provide long-term, satisfying employment.”

In addition to the JLP, ecoVeritas counts Harrods, House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, and Fortnum & Mason amongst clients employing its services each year. The new contract with the JLP also consolidates ecoVeritas’ position as the third-largest packaging waste consultancy in the UK.
