Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- NCCPN endorsed Candidate, Dr. Mike Beitler for US Senate, running against Richard Burr(R) and Elaine Marshall(D), will speak at a pro Cannabis/Hemp Pre-Election Rally in Raleigh NC on Oct. 23rd, 2010 in the Halifax Mall , State Capitol, Raleigh NC. He will speak on the failed Drug War as well as other issues important to voters at 2:00 PM.

The controversial medical topic has been avoided by NC lawmakers until recently. New developments within the Veterans Administration and the new VA Directive allowing Medical Marijuana use by Veterans in legal states, as well as the recent NC Democratic SEC Resolution (calling for an end to Bureaucratic Maneuvering and Enactment of HB 1380," The NC Medical Marijuana Act"), dictate change in NC Law when elected Legislators return January 27, 2011.  A proposal to enact has been sent to Governor Beverly Purdue and a copy of the SEC Resolution was sent to NC Legislators directly following the SEC conference in Fayettville, NC.

North Carolina has one of the largest Veteran populations in the country with many Veterans licensed by their home states to use Medical Marijuana stationed at our military bases. Legal Veterans face prosecution and arrest while stationed here, and have no access to Cannabis Medicine in our state even though they carry legal documentation and a valid medical card..

Many NC candidates are stepping forward on this critical issue now that there are 14 legal states as well as Washington DC who now allow the Medical Use of Marijuana for serious medical conditions with a Doctors Approval. California has Prop.19 on this years 2010 ballot for full legalization of Marijuana for adults 21 and above without a license.

The Event is not limited to the Medical Agenda of the NCCPN.  National Groups NORML( National Org. for the Reform of MJ Laws),  and SSDP college activists ( Students for Sensible Drug Policy) who support everything from full legalization to Agricultural Hemp will be attending and speaking on their agendas. Veteran and Political Speakers. Music, vendor booths, games, refreshments,  Educational and Political information , and the" NCCPN endorsed Candidates List" will be distributed during the Rally. There will be open speaking slots for patients, supporters, and community members to speak to attendees as well and share their stories.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwC-4aGXVjY
