Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Commencing on Friday 28th January 2011, this intensive, exciting new course is aimed at providing an internationally recognised qualification to those wishing to expand their therapy portfolio, knowledge or even a career change or the opportunity to further personal skills.

The course will be taught in four separate modules, which represent the required ITEC units for the qualification. These are broken down as follows:

Unit 98 Pilates Teaching Practical & Theory
Unit 97 Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology for Pilates & Yoga Teachers
Unit 44 Business Awareness and Professional Conduct for Fitness Instructors
Unit 66 Nutrition for Fitness Instructors

The Anatomy and Business elements will be provided, as usual, by Dawn Disney, Principal of New Brook Therapy and Fitness Centre, however, the Pilates training will be taught at New Brook by Clare Brown, of Revitalise, Hove, East Sussex.

Clare Brown has been teaching pilates and group exercise classes for over 12 years. She has built up her own successful pilates studio in central Hove which quickly increased from offering 1 pilates class a week to a full timetable of 24 classes a week.

All classes are matwork and include beginner, improver, intermediate and advanced levels as well as pregnancy pilates. In addition to running this successful business, Clare has written and produced a series of 3 pilates DVD’s.  Her wealth of experience in the fitness industry spans from business owner to group exercise leader to fitness centre manager to personal trainer and sports massage therapist as well as being a pilates expert.

She has qualifications with STOTT pilates, RSA, YMCA, LSSM, and Dip. RM. and is a member of Fitness Professionals.

Clare’s interest in pilates started which she managed a gym in London working as a fitness instructor and personal trainer. She did a lot of training with swiss balls, attended numerous core stability workshops and completed Paul Check’s scientific core conditioning and scientific back training courses.

She then went on to complete her formal pilates training and has been teaching purely pilates ever since. Having had 3 children during this time, she has found pilates to be instrumental in maintaining good posture and quickly returning to her pre-natal figure. These benefits, in addition to the numerous others gained by regular pilates, keeps Clare motivated and always keen to develop her teaching by attending workshops.

Clare is known for her clear explanations and hands on approach to teaching ensuring that the participant understands and performs each move correctly to gain the maximum benefit from each exercise. Clare incorporates all of her sports injury knowledge and fitness knowledge into her classes. Clare also uses small equipment in her pilates classes such as flex bands, foam rollers, fitness circles and toning balls which assist with modifications, and helps to add resistance, focus and variety to classes.

She also holds pre and post natal qualifications and has 3 full pregnancy pilates classes each week at her business premesis in Hove.
