Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- The Australian International School Singapore (AISS) is pleased to announce that is has received official accreditation today to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) in its Senior School from 2011.  This announcement comes on the back of a lengthy accreditation process and means that the School is now one of only a handful of international schools in Singapore to offer all three IB programmes.

From 2011, students will be able to choose between the IB Diploma Programme or the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) for their final two years of study.

Peter Bond, Principal of AISS said today;

“We are delighted that the IB has granted the School accreditation to run the DP in our Senior School.  The DP is an excellent program of study, following on seamlessly from the MYP, and we’re all very excited to be able to offer it to our student body.

A great many of our students come to us from schools other than in Australia and are interested in following a more internationally focused curriculum during their senior years, as are many of our Australian students. With the introduction of the DP in 2011, we now have an international alternative to offer those students.”

The School is already an IBO World School, offering the International Baccalaureate’s two other programmes, the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in Preschool, Junior and Primary School, and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in the Middle and Senior School.  The School received accreditation to run these two programs in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

In April this year, AISS opened its new Senior School wing, with a capacity to house 600 students from Years 10-12.  A three-storey building spanning the existing Middle and Junior schools, the Senior School enjoys excellent ICT facilities and is wireless throughout. As well as housing four purpose-built science labs, the Senior School also has its own Careers Centre and a Multi-Purpose Area for relaxation, quiet study and seminars.

Applications for the Senior School for the IB DP and the NSW HSC are open for 2011.
