Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Surprise, Arizona— Imagine Prep at Surprise celebrated their Homecoming, Hollywood style, the official theme being “Hooray for Hollywood.”  The weeklong festivities culminated with the second annual Imagine Prep at Surprise Homecoming Dance during which students walked down the red carpet which was swarming with paparazzi (members of Imagine Prep’s Yearbook Staff) and television personalities seeking interviews (Ms. Jessica Hardy, Art Teacher was asking the hard-hitting red carpet questions while Mr. Bob Trent, Media teacher manned the camera).

Homecoming Week at Imagine Prep is very student centered.  The Imagine Prep High School Student Council organized Spirit Week activities and the dance, Home team organized the pep assembly, and Key Club organized the coronation ceremony. Students will use video footage from Spirit Week and the red carpet to create a professional quality video that will be shared on Imagine Prep’s website.

“Imagine Prep at Surprise was bursting with school spirit during Sprit Week,” exclaimed John Buzzard, Imagine Prep at Surprise, Principal. “The very fact that our students and faculty identified exciting ways for our students to gain professional skills and real world experiences through Homecoming Week activities demonstrates Imagine Prep’s commitment to preparing our students for college, career, and life."

Students on this year’s Homecoming Court participated in a rigorous selection process.  Students in good standing (both academically and behaviorally) were nominated by students, staff and faculty.  Nominated students had the opportunity to apply to be on court.  Outstanding applicants were selected for interviews with members of the staff and administration.  The result? Imagine Prep’s Homecoming Court is represented by our most exceptional students, who embody Imagine Prep’s  shared values of integrity, justice and fun.

Members of Imagine Prep 2010 Homecoming Court: Tiffany Avila, 11th Grade; Jennifer Choi, 11th Grade; Ashlee Neslen, 11th Grade; Natalie Reyna, 12th Grade; Emily Scattergood, 12th Grade; Alec Kelly, 12th Grade; Marcus Perez, 11th Grade; Jared Queen, 11th Grade; James Risher, 12th Grade; and Tyler Zeigler, 12th Grade.

“At Imagine Prep we are seeking to prepare our students for college, career, and life,” explained Amanda Badali, 8th grade Social Studies Teacher and facilitator of the Homecoming Court selection process. “To do this we work very hard to create a strong, close community at Imagine Prep that encourages students to achieve academic excellence, outstanding character, and grow into leaders.  This year’s Homecoming celebrated these goals and highlighted the importance of these attributes when selecting our Homecoming Court and ultimately our King and Queen.”

Imagine Prep’s Key Club organized and facilitated a coronation ceremony that recognized and honored Imagine Prep’s Homcoming Court.  The event was attended by members of the Homecoming Court, their families, and Imagine Prep faculty and staff.

Natalie Reyna was named Homecoming Queen and Tyler Zeigler Homecoming King.
