Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- The FSECC provides an organized and effective method by which employees can donate to the charities of their choice through payroll deduction or a one-time gift. Employees are encouraged to use payroll deduction and take a full year to finance their gift with small payments.

The FSECC is the only solicitation of state employees authorized at the workplace during work hours. Employee contributions to the annual FSECC are entirely voluntary. True voluntary giving is fundamental to FSECC fundraising activities.

For almost 30 years, ARISE, a nonprofit organization, has provided life skills and staff training to often violent, hard-to-reach youth and those responsible for them. ARISE curricula and staff training enable ARISE-trained instructors to gain the trust of juvenile offenders. They succeed because the youth quickly understand that it’s not school, it’s ARISE. There are no putdowns for poor grammar or spelling errors. Neat handwriting is optional. All that’s requested in ARISE group sessions is participation.

Traumatized teens locked behind bars often feel abandoned, frightened  and stressed. They require practical skills to see them through life. Missing are the life lessons many of us learned as we sat around the dinner table discussing the day’s events. ARISE focuses on positive youth development. Instructors are ARISE trained to spotlight the positive in each youth, rather than putting them down with criticism and negative remarks. We succeed when the youth we work with stay out of the juvenile justice system and go on to lead a life free of crime. The support of active, concerned citizens like you helps us achieve that goal.

Since ARISE was established almost three decades ago, they  have trained and certified over 5,000 instructors who have taught in excess of 4,000,000 documented hours of ARISE life skills lessons in Florida alone. ARISE is also being used in Canada, Jamaica, England, Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, New Zealand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Bahrain, South Africa, and Vietnam. The ARISE curricula is presently being translated into Kazakh and Russian for use with orphans.
