Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, NY -- Today, Movember, the world's largest charity event raising funds for men’s health, is launching an online video contest, The Moscars, helping to kick off its fourth annual campaign. Movember is a worldwide movement which rallies gentlemen to grow moustaches during November to raise awareness and funds for cancers affecting men. Built using interactive agency Invoke’s memelabs platform, The Moscars is a user-submitted video contest that helps Movember participants showcase their involvement in the movement.

Starting today, men and women from across the globe are encouraged to create and submit up to three 10-minute Movember-inspired videos for the chance to win awesome prizes and help drive awareness for the cause, at http://www.memelabs.com/moscars.

Each Movember, men are challenged to start the month clean-shaven and grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the hairy ribbon for men's health and the guys growing them become a walking billboard for 30 days. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache, sparking hundreds of conversations about the seemingly taboo topics of men's health and prostate cancer. Women are also invited to participate by helping to rally and support their male friends.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer affecting men. During his lifetime, 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with this deadly disease.  Rates of prostate cancer in men are comparable to breast cancer rates in women, making this a very important cause Invoke is proud to support.

From prevention and survivorship, through to finding a better screening test and treatment options for prostate cancer, Movember aims to change the face of men’s health forever. Over 250,000 men and women supported Movember last year, raising an incredible $42 million (CAD).

Funds raised in the US benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. Funds raised in Canada benefit Prostate Cancer Canada.

The Movember video contest closes December 10, 2010, so hurry up and get your videos in! Voting for the winning entries is open to the general public, and winners will be publicly announced December 15th, 2010. For more information about the contest, its rules, and the prizes, please visit http://www.memelabs.com/moscars.
