Oct. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- This mixed media creation was inspired by the PSA's (public service announcements) and radio and television commercials that have bombarded the people with reminders to "get your flu shot."

Although touted by the medical establishment as a necessary and recommended precaution, there have been several reports over the years that question the efficacy and safety of the shot.

"I have done research and even spoken with a few physicians who themselves refuse to get a flu shot or even give it to their family members.  One person even told me that the sickest he ever was in his life was when he was forced to take the flu shot by his employer...ironically he missed 3 weeks of work due to complications from taking the vaccine."

While whimsical in its presentation, the painting "Flu Season" uses simple vivid colors to depict the misery felt by individuals suffering from both the flu itself and those who become ill after being inoculated with the CDC's (Center for Disease Control) "cocktail of contagion."

This painting, in addition to other creations by Greg Pitts,
can be viewed at the GAB Studio during the monthly Art Walk in the Wynwood Art District.  The Artwalk will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 7pm to 11 pm at the gallery.  GAB Studio is located in Miami in the Wynwood Art District at 105 N.W. 23rd Street.
