Fort Myers Orthopedic Shoe Store, Foot Solutions of Estero,To Host Blood Drive on Saturday, 10/9

Oct. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Foot Solutions of Estero-Fort Myers, an orthopedic shoe store located in the Corkscrew Village Plaza on U.S. 41, will be hosting a blood drive for the Community Blood Center from 12pm-3pm on Saturday, October 9th.  All donors will receive a $10 Foot Solutions gift card and will be eligible to win a $20 gift certificate to Ristorante Farfalla.  

“Southwest Florida is currently experiencing a shortage in blood donors, and we want to do our part to help.  A single donation of blood is estimated to save three lives, so it seems like a very simple way to make a huge impact,” said Chris Cole, Owner of Foot Solutions-Estero.  “To thank those who come out to support the blood drive, we will be giving away a $10 Foot Solutions gift card to every single donor.  In addition, Ristorante Farfalla will enter all donors into a drawing for a $20 gift certificate to their restaurant.”

•People over age 65 CAN give blood!  There is no age limit for donors.
•Minimum required weight for blood donors is 110 pounds
•Insulin dependent diabetics may still be able to donate.
•Donating blood is safe and is not painful.
•Every 3 seconds someone in America needs blood.  Every 20 minutes, someone receives blood in Collier County.
•There are blood shortages in Southwest FL, which could affect you or a loved one.
•It is estimated that 9 out of 10 people over the age of 70 will need at least one unit of blood in their lifetime
•People can donate every 2 months.
