Petition Drive Underway for Hill Country Businesses

Dear Hill Country Business Owner:

August 27th Canyon Lake Water Service Company (CLWSC) filed to substantially increase your water rates by 71%. This followed an 11% increase in 2009. This will occur in two phases – a 38% increase effective October 27, 2010 and another 33% increase effective March 15, 2011 for a total increase of 71% above your current rates.

A petition drive is underway to challenge the magnitude of CLWSC rate increases (especially during such a recessionary period). We would like to invite you to be a part of this Coalition For Equitable Water rates (CEWR) petition drive. The State of Texas requires over 10% of users to petition in order for there to be any consideration given to lower water rates.

We believe we can be most effective if all of the concerned businesses & residents are part of one large coalition. In so doing we will have a single, strong spokesperson to represent all of us.

We will keep you informed about the hearing dates and progress via e-mail and regular meetings of the affected businesses and residents.
