They Came, They Saw, They Chowdered on LBI at Chowderfest 2010

The clammy weather could not keep thousands from celebrating the 22nd annual Chowder Cook Off
Oct. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- “ It’s Chowderfest, how can you not have a good time” exclaimed Chowderfest Committee Chair Frank Panzone of Panzone’s Pizza and Pasta. With both chowder tents packed and crowds of all ages prepared for the wet weather it seemed nothing was going to dampen the mood of enthusiastic restaurants, devoted Chowderfans and hundreds of volunteers. A true rain or shine event, Chowderfest bought fans in from across the country for the long awaited official end of summer ritual on Long Beach Island of the Jersey Shore..

The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the nineteen restaurants who brought creativity, energy and delicious chowder to this year’s event.
New England Clam Chowder participants were Buck Tavern of Corbin City, Chicken or the Egg of Beach Haven, Country Kettle Chowda of Bay Village, Greenhouse Café of Ship Bottom, Howard’s of Beach Haven Gardens, Mud City Crab House of Manahawkin, Panzone’s Pizza & Pasta of Surf City and Beach Haven, The Sandpiper Restaurant of Surf City, Stefano’s California Grill of Beach Haven Terrace, TGI Friday’s of Manahawkin. The Manhattan Clam Chowder participants were Beachside Shore Café of Beach Haven Gardens, Bistro 14 of Beach Haven, Black Whale Bar and Fish House of Beach Haven, The Buck Tavern of Corbin City, Dock Road Crab Shack of Manahawkin, Joey’s Pizza & Pasta of Beach Haven Crest, Ship Bottom, Manahawkin and Waretown, Key West Grille of Surf City, Sea Oaks Country Club of Little Egg Harbor and Stefano’s Seafood & Pasta in Beach Haven.

On hand to announce the winners was the new Executive Director of New Jersey Travel and Tourism Grace Hanlon and State Tourism Representative Phyllis Oppenheimer. Ms Hanlon announced and presented the white chowder winners Grand Prize Stefano’s California Grill, 1rst Runner Up Greenhouse Café, 2nd Runner Up Country Kettle Chowda, 3rd Panzone’s Pizza & Pasta, Critics Choice Greenhouse Café. Ms. Oppenheimer announced and presented the red Grand Prize Stefano’s Seafood and Pasta, 1rst Runner Up Bistro 14, 2nd Runner Up Black Whale and Fish House, 3rd Runner up Sea Oaks Country Club Critics Choice Stefano’s Seafood & Pasta. The Rookie of the Year was Beachside Shore Café. The VIP Best Booth Winners were Panzone’s Pizza & Pasta for Best Interpretation of the Theme, Country Kettle Chowda for Best Shore Motif, Mud City Crab House for Most Enthusiastic and Black Whale Bar & Fish House for Most Creative.
