Ellen Jantzen's "Alternate Realities" photography art book now available at major booksellers
Sunbury Press has released Ellen Jantzen's book "Ellen Jantzen: Alternate Realities". The book features the digital artwork of photographer / digital artist Ellen Jantzen.
About the book:
If anyone were capable of capturing the mystery of quantum mechanics; the uncertainty and duality of photons (light energy), Ellen Jantzen has done it. Her photo-based work, referred to by the artist as "photo-synthesis"
This book presents three series of Ellen Jantzen's recent work:
'Escaping Reality' is Animal Planet for the quantum physicist or science fiction fan. The dog/doe creatures in many of the images simultaneously appear deathly pallid and celestial. Perhaps Ellen has caught canus antilocapridae in its natural setting and with its mate. Perhaps these are mutants following a million years of sunlight bombardment or post-nuclear holocaust. Perhaps this is life on another planet or in another dimension.
'Masking Reality' presents alternate possibilities of the human spirit. What if we co-existed in other worlds? What would we look like. How would we see ourselves? Aren't we simply just masses of energy? Is our body just a mask of the soul? The artist captures these concepts in the images of spirit-like beings and masked-dancers.
'Reality of Place' is Michael Harner's The Way of the Shaman expressed in pictorial form, or photographic proof for Ruth Montgomery's spiritualism. The beings captured in the images are shape-shifters or wizards traveling the planes of existence. The settings are once medieval and then timeless, as if the beings are traveling through time by spinning in their robes and making a gesture. Clearly, spirits are among us.
