Nametag new style of Michigan hip hop shows innovation and creativity

If you are looking for a definition of the words Hip Hop, look no further than Nametag.  Yes, Nametag is synonymous with the hip hop scene, its culture, its environment and its energy.  He came from the streets of Detroit, Michigan, where Nametag developed this pure form.   He knew he was heading in the right direction when he landed his first official studio recording alongside Black Milk on a track titled “Real Life” on a Slum Village compilation titled Dirty District Vo.l 1 (2002).  From that point forward, he started gaining recognition by making guest appearances on releases such as B.R. Gunna’s “Dirty District Vol. 2 (2003), Sound of the City (2005), Broken Wax (2007) Popular Demand (2007), The Set Up (2008) and so on.  He began releasing his own projects in 2007.   Now with a new era of Michigan hip hop music expanding, Nametag is dead center in its growth and riding the wave to the top of the line.  

Nametag’s lead single, “Another Other”, which was produced by Black Milk, is off of his CD “The Name Is Tag”.  This title is defined as the apex of the hip hop game.  The highest you can go where no one can touch you.  This single was chosen because of its hard hitting sound with heavy bass along with being radio friendly with catchy verses.  As with other songs on this CD, this song takes the listener to the limit of their imagination.  It is an announcement that Nametag is here.

Nametag has earned numerous mentions on XXL Magazine, Detroit Free Press, Metro Times, Real Detroit Weekly.  He was nominated for 2010’s Detroit People’s Choice Music Awards for Best New Artist and Mixtape Of The Year for Classic Cadence Vol. 2

Nametag is a one man dynamo.  He writes, records, arranges and performs his own music along with marketing items that sells his namesake.
