Follow on Google News | Job seekers should no longer be concerned to look for another jobWith the looming Conservative-Liberal Democrats coalition’s spending cuts announcement and the word ‘recession’ still dominating the press it is not surprising that the public are still reluctant to search for new jobs.
By: Victoria Kelly Despite there being an unexpected rise in unemployment during August, there was an increase in the number of jobs being created, the largest since June 2007, Brand Recruitment has seen a rise in the number of companies recruiting for marketing and PR roles in the East of England. Ursula Colman, Managing Consultant at Brand Recruitment explained that “new and exciting marketing roles are being recruited for and we are extremely busy at the moment but we are finding that candidates are reluctant to look for new opportunities.” Candidates may have concerns about looking for a new job whilst they are still in a permanent position. These fears could stem from confidentially issues and the lack of job opportunities that are available. The former can be a concern to potential candidates who already have a role and do not want their current employer to find out they are searching for a new role. These concerns should definitely not be a concern according to Brand Recruitment. Colman reassuringly say that “we take confidentially very seriously at Brand and would not put anyone’s CV and details across to our clients without their prior consent. Likewise, we would not contact your current employer.” As for new job opportunities, marketing and PR positions are buoyant in the East of England. These opportunities vary from Marketing Manager, Assistant Brand Manager to Marketing Assistant positions. The industries recruiting also vary but large FMCG and technology companies appear to dominate. Agencies are also recruiting which is reassuring. Brand Recruitment has also noticed a huge demand for digital and online marketers. Due to the recession, companies have appeared to turn to these digital skills to improve sales and customers. This move towards online focused marketing campaigns not only ensures that they are at the top of this new trend; it is also cost effective and used for budget cuts. The future for marketing and PR job seekers in the East of England does look promising and potential candidates should not feel scared about looking for new job opportunities. Companies are recruiting and there are new marketing roles to be had!
