Stars Shine at Utah's Annual Film Industry Gala

Utah's film industry has been thriving since the passing of Senate Bill 14, a Motion Picture Incentive Program that has inspired many film makers from across the country to make Utah home to their productions.

On October 9th, 2010 the cameras will be rolling as Power & Industry host the Annual Utah Film Industry Gala in Salt Lake City and recognize those who have contributed to the success of making Utah one of the fastest growing film industries in the country. Local and national film makers agree, Utah has earned its nickname of "Saltywood".

The Gala, originally intended to highlight Utah film makers and their achievements, has expanded to include recognition of local industry contributors from the independents to the big budgets, the ultimate goal being to bring more film projects to Utah. A co-op with Power & Industry, a Social Media Motion Picture Studio, this year's recipient of the 2010 "Contribution to the Arts" Award is proudly given to ABC 4's national film critics Talking Pictures.

The event is expected to bring more than 200 esteemed patrons of the arts and entertainment industry and feature notable guests that include the Utah Film Commission, Utah Film Locations, Film Utah Magazine, Foreclosure Boys Television, KJZZ TV, Freedom AM 570 Radio, and Disney Pixar's Eric Kuhlmann (Los Angeles). Special musical performance by Utah's own The Nate Keller Band compliment the entire evening of entertainment and collaboration between industry professionals.

This year's location has been made available by Utah Film Locations, a mansion on the hill overlooking the beautiful skyline of Salt Lake City, once owned by former Salt Lake City Mayor Deedee Coradini, this Mayor's Mansion will play host for one night in honor of those who have made Utah one of the nation's premiere filming destinations.
