Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Two months after announcing a series of new domains, the founders of online travel agency www.sunshine.co.uk have announced their latest purchase. The new domain, www.turkey.co.uk , is about to go live and aims to provide customers with low cost holidays to Turkish resorts.

Turkey is the second most popular holiday destination on sunshine.co.uk behind Spain; a fact that prompted the founders to invest in the new online travel agency domain.

As with all of the other country-specific domains in the founders’ portfolio, turkey.co.uk will hold similar branding to sunshine.co.uk; but will feature content and holidays specific to Turkey.

Despite the collapse of Goldtrail, Kiss and a number of other travel agencies this year alone, the founders of sunshine.co.uk expect Turkey to remain a destination growing in popularity for years to come.

Turkey.co.uk joins 14 other location-specific domains in the sunshine.co.uk portfolio, as listed below:

•                      spain.co.uk   •                      crete.co.uk
•                      tenerife.co.uk   •                      lapalma.co.uk
•                      majorca.co.uk   •                      menorca.co.uk
•                      cyprus.co.uk   •                      elhierro.co.uk
•                      hawaii.co.uk   •                      fuerteventura.co.uk
•                      grancanaria.co.uk    •                      lanzarote.co.uk
•                      tunisia.co.uk   •     dominaca.co.uk

Chris Clarkson, co-founder of http://www.sunshine.co.uk along with Chris Brown and Alan Gilmour, explained the reasons behind the purchase of turkey.co.uk;

“Similar to Egypt, Turkey is a destination that has an alternative currency to the Euro. I think this is a big reason why the country is so popular amongst holidaymakers today, as other currencies and better exchange rates still very much appeal to tourists.

“After already acquiring the domain for our most popular holiday resort, spain.co.uk, it made sense to look into launching a similar country-specific site for Turkey; our next best performing destination.”

He concluded, “We have high hopes for each of the domains in our portfolio, and the ones that have already been established for the past couple of months are performing even better than we could have hoped. I think we’re on to a good thing.”
