Sept. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- PRONicaragua, the official investment promotion agency of Nicaragua, and the Nicaraguan Tourism Board (INTUR, for its acronym in Spanish) will participate at the Orlando@50+ Expo organized by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). The event will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, from Sept. 30 through Oct. 2nd with the objective of showcasing Nicaragua as one of the next retirement hotspots in the region. The Expo will gather approximately 20,000 people over 50 years of age looking for options to enjoy their retirement years.

At Nicaragua’s booth (#445), visitors will be able to obtain country information, get a taste of Nicaragua’s premium products and meet some of the country’s most renowned beachfront hotels and residential projects, which offer a series of world-class amenities to retirees such as spas and wellness centers, luxurious villas and condos, exquisite restaurants, medical facilities and much more. Additionally, retirees may sign up to participate in a country tour scheduled for the first semester of 2011 to visit these projects and see for themselves why Nicaragua has been drawing international attention as a retirement haven.

In the recent Forbes Magazine Retirement Guide, Nicaragua was ranked among the top 5 locations for Americans to retire overseas, and MSN Money called it the “best-kept retirement secret.”

“We are confident the AARP Orlando@50+ event will be as successful for Nicaragua as last year’s event, if not better. The country has grown in popularity due to CBS’s Emmy-Award winning show Survivor, which is currently airing its 21st season recently filmed in Nicaragua. The show has placed our country on the spotlight and retirees are recognizing that Nicaragua has the conditions to offer them the retirement they’ve always wanted but didn’t think they could afford,” said Javier Chamorro, Executive Director of PRONicaragua.

Additionally, Nicaragua passed the Law of Resident Pensioners and Retirees (Law 694) to encourage retirees and pensioners to move to the country. The law gives benefits in the form of tax incentives such as duty-free imports in household goods, tax exemptions in the import or purchase of a new car, construction materials and more.

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, membership organization that helps people over 50 improve their quality of life and currently has grown to 40 million members in all 50 states, becoming the nation’s largest membership organization for people over 50.

PRONicaragua is the Nicaraguan Investment Promotion Agency, established in 2002. It is a non-profit, public-private institution whose mission is to generate economic growth and job creation in Nicaragua by attracting high-quality foreign direct investment. The agency provides complimentary support services to qualified investors seeking investment opportunities in our country.
