Sept. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- September 27, 2010 – Signal Hill, Calif. – Mercedes-Benz of Long Beach confirms, General Motors nominated Mercedes-Benz R-Class model among a list of 14 cars being considered for the 2011 North American Car of the Year title.
The award is unique in the United States because instead of being given by a single media outlet -- they are awarded by automotive journalists from the United States and Canada who represent magazines, television, radio, newspapers and web sites.

This is the 18th year of the awards, which are funded exclusively by the jurors. Mercedes-Benz was previously nominated as 2010 North American Car Of The Year for the E-Class, however the Mercedes-Benz R-Class model was selected for the 2011 running.
