Sept. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- MIAMI – September 28, 2010 - National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment (NVEEE) will be featured in NBC Universal's "Education Nation" (www.educationnation.com), a nationally broadcast in-depth conversation about improving education in America. The initiative is a series of programming and events to tackle the challenges and opportunities in education reform by bringing together more than 300 big thinkers in government, politics, business and technology - as well as school administrators, teachers, parents and students from across the country. Jacob Carpenter, a Teen Mentor with NVEEE was interviewed for the September 27 segment on school bullying and violence.

“We are excited about taking part in NBC’s Education Nation special on bullying because it means the public is finally taking this matter seriously, and my own cries and prayers are slowly being answered,” said Jowharah Sanders, Founder and President. “Whether or not you have children you are affected in some way or another, and we are finally becoming a village again, and for that I am proud.”

“There has been a tremendous amount of neglect from both sides, parents and school officials, with regards to school violence, and I consider it a privilege to serve an organization whose primary purpose is to prevent school violence and end bystanderism among youths and young adults,” said Jeffrey Rubinstein, General Counsel.

NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC and Telemundo will provide cross network on-air coverage of NBC's "Education Nation” with a series of special reports, programming and live events starting Sunday, September 26. The conversation will continue online with special features and reports at MSNBC.com, EducationNation.com and iVillage. In addition, NBC News will turn Rockefeller Plaza into a “Learning Plaza," a series of five galleries, open to the public, which will allow visitors to explore America's educational "ecosystem."

Prominent figures participating in Education Nation include President Barak Obama; First Lady Michelle Obama; U.S. General Colin Powell, Founding Chairman of America’s Promise Alliance; Alma Powell, Chair of America’s Promise Alliance; U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg; Harlem Children Zone’s CEO Geoffrey Canada; and President of MIT Susan Hockfield.

Founded in October of 2009, NVEEE was conceived as a response to the increasing levels of bullying, violence, and suicide among middle and high school students. It is composed of a team of individuals dedicated to restoring order within the community, and bringing awareness to hate crimes and heinous acts being committed by and against school-aged children on a daily basis.

NVEEE is currently preparing for its inaugural “Peace for A Day” campaign. Upcoming fundraisers include:

Tri-County Bowling Fundraiser

“It is an honor for Lolliposh to be able to give back to NVEEE’s Peace for a Day campaign, and co-sponsor the Strike Out Bullying fundraiser,” said Juliana Ruiz, Founder of Lolliposh Consignment Sale and Bazaar. “As the owner of a business that directly services parents, we knew we had the opportunity to make an impact by raising funds for the organization.  It's difficult to do what they do on a daily basis, and as a parent of three small children, I am happy that someone has their best interest at heart."
