Follow on Google News | 7N on Success through IT FlexibilityMartin Monné from 7N A/S, a sponsor at the marcus evans Nordic CIO Summit 2010, considers the criticality of flexibility in IT.
By: Sarin Kouyoumdjian-Gurunlian, Press Manager If the Chief Information Officer (CIO) has the right mix of IT flexibility built around the core business, the organisation will succeed whether the market is good or going down, says Martin Monné, Country Manager, Sweden, at 7N A/S. From a sponsor company at the marcus evans Nordic CIO Summit 2010, taking place in Stockholm, Sweden, 25 - 27 October, Monné shares his opinion on IT flexibility for long-term success. What should be on the Nordic CIO agenda today? Martin Monné: The changing market is a challenge for many Nordic CIOs today. There are always going to be ups and downs, but now they come more frequently. They have to build in flexibility to meet these challenges. Flexibility is one of the most important responsibilities for CIOs today. How can CIOs ensure they get the most out of their IT investments? Martin Monné: Planning and having the right people in the planning process is very important. CIOs have to evaluate their IT investments in order to maximise their benefits. How can CIOs best integrate IT into the organisation’ Martin Monné: IT is becoming more and more important in every type of business. If you look at a bank, it is more an IT company than actual banking; most of the business is entirely IT. Therefore, you have to think in terms of IT to get the best of the business processes running as smoothly as possible. IT provides different checkpoints to make sure you are doing the right thing in the right way. Previously, it was the only support to the business, but now it is the actual core business. What are some of the upcoming changes that CIOs should prepare for? Martin Monné: The toughest challenge to manage is the fast change of going from very stable to very unstable in a short period of time. They have to manage this somehow by cutting costs very quickly. What long-term strategies would you recommend to CIOs? Martin Monné: CIOs need to plan their short and long term strategies in a combination, which needs flexibility between employees, consultants and the projects put out to vendors. If they have the right mix of IT flexibility built around the core business, then they will succeed whether the market is good or going down.
