About Social Media Club (SMC)
Chris Heuer and Kristie Wells started Social Media Club (SMC) in March 2006 to host conversations around the globe that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other. Social Media Club enables exploration of personal and professional passions by helping members to connect with a community of peers based on both geography and areas of interest. The SMC exists to ensure that the world of social media does not become an echo chamber of self-reinforcing thoughts, but is instead fueled by diversity of opinion and perspective. The first chapter launched in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, on August 16, 2006. There are 200+ chapters in existence today, covering six of the seven continents. For more information about Social Media Club, please contact Kristie Wells at kristie@socialmediaclub.org.
