Sept. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Galerie Belle Ame will host and feature internationally recognized wood and bronze sculptor Ken Newman, October 1, 2010 from 4:30-8:30pm.  The craftsman's style gallery owned by Melissa and Jason Brodt will be bulging with both wood and bronze wildlife sculptures including Ken's new bronze figurative work.  An Idaho resident for over 10 years, Ken is a member of the National Sculpture Society http://www.nationalsculpture.org   and several other prestigious art organizations based in New York as well as being a member of the McCall Artist's Connection.

Known for his unique ability to sculpt in raw forms of wood for over 30 years, Ken is drawn to question and interpret the relationships of man and nature and how each influences the other. He works in several mediums including wood, bronze, marble, stone and found objects.

Ken Newman just returned to Idaho from two museum exhibitions.  His work was juried into "Birds in Art" at the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau WI, and his bronze long-billed curlew sculpture "Composed" was purchased for the museum permanent collection. "Composed" was one of sixty works chosen to go on the 35th Birds in Art Tour to: the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur Texas; the Newington-Cropsey Foundation in Hastings-on-Hudson New York; the Wendell Gilley Museum in Southwest Harbor Maine and the Michelson Museum of Art in Marshall Texas.

"Observing Grace" was chosen for the Society of Animal Artist's 50th Art and Animal Exhibition hosted at the San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park, which runs through October 31, 2010. The tour continues to The Wildlife Experience Museum in Parker Colorado opening November 20, 2010. Ken Newman's sculptures can also be seen in three others exhibitions; the Wildling Art Museum in Los Olivos California, the Greenacres Art Center in Cincinnati Ohio and on-line at the 3rd Annual Artists for Conservation.

Gallery owner, Melissa Brodt suggests that art lovers stop by the gallery before October 9th, Ken will be exhibiting a large wood sculpture "Precipitous Drop" (a life size coyote chasing chukars) before heading out to shows in Little Rock, Arkansas and Maryland. The show runs through November 19, 2010 and features new paintings by Idaho artists Fonny Davidson, Venture Coy, Gregg Russell, Kenny Olson and abstract artists Dave Thomas and Rena Vandewater.

A special collector's preview with the sculptor present will be hosted by invitation only on Thursday, September 30, contact the gallery for details and reservations (space is limited).  Public reception is during Eagle’s First Friday downtown stroll on October 1st 4:30-8:30 pm.
