Houston Parents Celebrate Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month in A Big Way

A Heart Like Hers Foundation celebrates Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month in memory of Morgan Frazier. An eleven year old servant leader who wanted children with cancer to have a Merry Christmas.

Sept. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- HOUSTON (September 24, 2010) - Founders Stanley & Dineta Frazier are acutely aware of the diagnosis and both the medical and non-medical challenges cancer presents to families.  Their eight year old daughter Morgan was diagnosed with a rare form of muscle cancer (Rhabdomysarcoma) and underwent 2 ½ years of intensive treatment including chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and research options before passing away 2 months shy of her 11th birthday.

Morgan’s life serves as a great inspiration to her parents as well as to her community as she chose to see her diagnosis as an opportunity to serve rather than a death sentence.  After her first year of treatment Morgan organized a toy-drive in her community to help those children who remained in the hospital (after all cancer doesn’t take a break at Christmas) and hand delivered toys to them on Christmas Eve, 2007 having been told one week prior to the toy drive that her cancer had resurfaced.  Although faced with another year of treatment she didn’t abandoned her cause and choose to hand deliver the toys herself to the kids on the 9th floor at Texas Children’s Hospital.

She entered extensive treatment for a second year with some initial success however without a permanent cure.  Her mobility was greatly affected by the cancer.  Yet she again orchestrated the 2nd year toy drive in 2008 from her wheelchair and personally managed the distribution of several hundreds of toys to the children at the cancer clinic.  Two weeks later she passed away, after having shared her vision of seeing other children happy at Christmas.

A Heart Like Hers Foundation celebrates Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month in memory of Morgan Frazier. The organization will continue Morgan’s act of love for others this year with the 4th Annual Toy-Drive Fundraiser benefitting the children and siblings at Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer Center hosted by Houston’s own Charlotte Stallings and some other very special guests.  Strack’s Banquet Hall is on 5707 Louetta Road in Spring, Texas.
