Sept. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Ormond Beach, Florida.  During September, Boeing has issued new forecasts for airliner purchases and pilot hiring.  New forecasts have been issued covering all areas of the world including projections for strong growth in Asia with more modest growth forecast in North America and Africa.  Overall, pilot demand during the next 20 year period will average 23,300 new pilots per year according to Boeing with a total reaching nearly ½ million new pilots over that period.  The total number of new mechanics needed over that period will even be greater, reaching nearly 600,000 new maintenance personnel.

The largest increase in pilot hiring will be in the Asia-Pacific region with over 1/3 of the worldwide demand needed there.  In Asia, China will continue to lead the pilot demand with over 70,000 new pilots needed during the 20 year period.

Both North America and Europe will each need nearly 100,000 new airline pilots during the 20 year period from 2009 to 2029.

In a separate article, Boeing predicted steady growth in airline purchases in Africa over the next 20 years.  More than 700 airplanes will be needed to meet demand in that region during that period.  Air travel in Africa is forecasted to grow as the economy continues to expand there.

Boeing also announced earlier this week that Cathay Pacific Airways has exercised an existing purchasing right to acquire six more Boeing 777-300ERs.  This purchase will increase Cathay Pacific’s fleet of B777s from 30 to 36.  Cathay Pacific is one of the leading airlines in the Asia-Pacific region contributing significantly to the growth forecasts there including hiring beginning and experience pilots.

Sunrise Aviation, a pilot training school in Ormond Beach, Florida, has been training pilots for the worldwide market for the past 27 years.  Recently, students from both Asia and the Middle East have numbered among the largest at Sunrise Aviation including large groups of students from India and Saudi Arabia.  But pilots from Africa, South America, and Europe have also begun their airline careers as students at Sunrise Aviation.   Inquiries and enrollments from students interested in being professional pilots from North America including the USA, Canada and the Bahamas has also recently increased.

Florida remains one of the preferred destinations for students seeking training as pilots.  Florida’s excellent weather and large number of training airports has attracted one of the highest concentrations of flight training schools in the world.

Sunrise Aviation is located just 7 miles north of Daytona Beach and only an hour away from Orlando.  Central Florida is an excellent location for pilot training and offers non-aviation attractions such as the world famous beaches, theme parks, and many other activities.

Students interested in taking advantage of the increase in pilot demand can contact Sunrise Aviation at the following:
