Foundation Care CEO, Daniel Blakeley, Is The First To Earn 50 Pharmacist Licenses

Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- On September 23, 2010, Daniel Blakeley, RPh and CEO of Foundation Care Pharmacy, was licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Ohio. This is his 50th license to practice pharmacy. He is licensed in Washington D.C. and all states except California.

Being registered in virtually the entire country is a rare and prestigious accomplishment. According to Carmen A. Catizone, MS, RPh, DPh, executive director/secretary of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®), NABP knows of no other pharmacist who has received 50 licenses. “NABP is pleased that its licensure transfer process has aided Mr. Blakeley on his journey to achieve this remarkable accomplishment. Mr. Blakeley has a great deal of dedication to keep track of renewing so many licenses, and ensuring compliance with continuing education requirements for all 50 jurisdictions. It is an impressive feat,” Catizone said.

In order to become licensed, Blakeley was required to study state pharmacy practice laws and take the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination®, which tests the pharmacy jurisprudence knowledge of prospective pharmacists through a combination of questions on federal law and laws specific to the state where the license is being sought. In a few states, Blakeley was required to travel and interview with the State Board of Pharmacy in person.

This is one of the reasons Blakeley has ventured to take one state law exam per week for the past several months. “I feel we are better able to serve our patients all over the country now that we are more familiar with laws and procedures specific to each state,” Blakeley said. “It is important that we provide the best care possible, and this is one way we are doing so.”

In addition to his state licenses, Blakely is now working on obtaining licenses in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam. He will be completing these application processes within the next several months.
