Sept. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!  It has been a little while since the last You Do Yoga newsletter, so we have lots of catching up to do.  We will try to keep this brief, but there is so much exciting news that this is likely to get out of hand.... If you want to just skim the headlines in bold print it may save you a bit of time, but feel free to read it all - of course, all of this information and more can be found on our website: www.YouDoYoga.com

We are planning to start our Teacher Training program in January.  This training will be the only of its kind in the Cincinnati area.  We will be learning to teach yoga from a functional perspective, beginning with Yin Yoga and progressing into a functional examination of other styles and traditions to help create well-rounded, well-educated instructors.  We will become familiar with the essential scriptures and philosophical texts of yoga. We will explore subtle anatomy and the energetic system of the body including chakras and meridians, and we will learn fundamental techniques of meditation.  Interviews for applicants are currently underway.  If you are interested visit our website.

We are finalizing plans for the 1st annual You Do Yoga retreat to Italy in 2011.  Some of the details are still in the works, but we have our location picked out, and a rough outline of our daily schedule.  Check it all out on www.YouDoYoga.com

We are welcoming new teachers to the You Do Yoga team!  Amanda Bloomquist, Cheryl Kemp, and Lainie Ipsa are bringing their talents to our downtown studio, offering several new classes and special events.  You can view their profiles online.

Local Legend Julianna Bloodgood will be coming home to visit after over a year of traveling abroad.  She has lots to tell us about, and you'll want to check our website over the next few weeks to see the times and details of the various workshops and classes she'll be facilitating.  Details will be available soon!

Finally, We are making so many exciting additions to our class schedule for this fall that we just want to tell you about our whole line-up again.  The following weekly schedule will be effective starting in October:

You Do Yoga is pleased to be offer a FREE trial session of Kids Yoga on Saturday October 2nd at Noon for kids Ages 5 and up, Led by Amanda Bloomquist. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem, body awareness and compassion.  It also increases flexibility and strength while fostering concentration and improving a sense of calmness.  In this class, children are encouraged to use their imaginations while exploring creative movement and yoga.  All of which is done in a non-competitive environment.  They don't know all of that is happening because to them the class is just FUN!! Yoga brings that beautiful natural light all children have to the surface.

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful and creative times in a woman's life.  It is filled with changes, challenges and the purest of joy.  Throughout the various stages of pregnancy, yoga helps to release stress the changing body endures. As the body redefines itself supporting the new life it carries and nourishes, let's be honest, it's not always a walk in the park. Increasing overall strength, flexibility and stamina, helps to reduce swelling of the joints, aches and fatigue. Opening muscles in the pelvis, reduces pressure on ligaments and eases lower back pain and sciatica.  Connecting with the breath focuses the entire body on releasing and relaxing while oxygenating the blood. Having a community of moms to draw from, lets us know that others are in fact coping with morning sickness, constipation, heartburn and gas! Believe it or not there are postures that alleviate all of these things.  Moving from a more intuitive place leaves us more open to 'listen' to where we hold tension, which can be most helpful in preparation of and during labor.  Giving a peace-filled beginning to our babies that they can carry throughout life!
8 Weeks of classes Saturdays 10:30-11:45am beginning October 9th

Feeling better can only make us happier. Don't be an angry bunny....Do Some Yoga!! Starting October 4th!

Sandi's relaxed and restorative teaching style will have you floating through the rest of your week. On Final Fridays at 5:30pm we host our "Don't Worry, Be Happy-Hour", Laughter Yoga Featuring Hasya Yogi Patrick Murphy Welage.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to experience a style of yoga that anyone and everyone can enjoy.  It is a fun-filled participatory and experiential event, including movement, light stretching, breathing exercises, and laughter exercises - all leading up to a laughter yoga meditation. Please join us for this extra-ordinary experience, and come ready to have some side-splitting, smile-so-much-your-face-hurts fun!

Our saturday morning vinyasa class will be moving forward one hour to 9am, and will be led by Amanda Bloomquist.

On Sundays at 10am, Sandi Carpenter leads "Wake-up Yoga", not just to wake you from your sleep but to awaken your soul!  Come be inspired by Sandi's unique approach to this flowing Hatha Yoga practice, incorporating Pranayama, Asana, and a final guided relaxation that will make your Sunday shine!

To round out our line-up, Lainie Ipsa leads a power vinyasa practice every Sunday at Noon.  Lainie's power yoga style is so relaxed and fluid you won't realize how hard you are working, you'll just be way too much having fun!

Lastly, as we approach 2 years in our current location at 1319 Main Street, we would like to say how much we are loving our downtown neighbors!  We had wonderful Second Sundays and looking forward to doing it again next year.  Our friends from Park + Vine are moving even closer at the end of this month.  We are grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community, and thanks to all of you who make it happen!

Namaste
