Vale Furnishers Celebrates 50 Years

Sept. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- To commemorate the milestone, the store hosted an event in-store between the 17th and 20th September, where customers celebrated with a glass of bubbly and a slice of birthday cake. In addition, with every purchase made over the four days customers were invited to pick from a lucky dip to win a Vale birthday gift. Prizes ranged from money off vouchers and leather recliners, to donation pledges to local charities Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice (http://www.phyllistuckwellhospice.org/) and Cancer Research UK (http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/).

After a successful weekend, the birthday bonanza drew to a close on Monday afternoon when Mark Chandler, Director at Vale Furnishers (http://www.valefurnishers.co.uk/), presented donations of £1,715 to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and £1,285 to Cancer Research UK.

Mark Chandler commented on the success of the weekend: “This weekend was a fantastic way to commemorate our 50th anniversary. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all our customers for coming along to celebrate with us and for all their support which enabled us to make a great donation to two very worthy causes. I’d also like to thank all our staff for their loyalty and commitment over the years. With the continued support of our customers and staff we’re looking forward to what the next 50 years will bring.”

Every day we support over 100 patients and carers in their own homes, in the community and at the Hospice (on our In-Patient Unit, in Day Hospice, at out-patient appointments and through Patient and Family Services). We firmly believe in offering an integrated package of care that reflects both clinical requirement and patient choice.


The NHS covers less than 16% of the Hospice's costs. This means we have to fundraise 84p in every pound the Hospice needs to spend so we rely heavily on the support and generosity of our local community. All our services are free of charge to our patients and their families, but we need to fundraise over £10,000 a day to offer such an exceptional standard of clinical care and support.


Our vision is to be able to give local patients and their families both an excellent service and a choice about where they'd like to be cared for by the Hospice. We can only do this with the continued support of our community.
