2010 Surf City Surf Dog Contest Showcases Great Dog Surfing, Costumes and Charities

Sept. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Dogs are not only man's best friend but in California and Huntington Beach they are also surfing companions. The 2010 Surf City Surf Dog event showcased some of the best doggie surfers in Southern California along with some very creative costomes for the surf dog fashion show.

Large and powerful surf did not slow down the dog contestants and their owners from heading into the Pacific Ocean to help raise money and awareness for other dogs not so fortunate. Animal charity groups including The Pet Rescue Center, Barks of Love, The Orange County Pit Bull Rescue and Coastal German Shepard Rescue Center were in attendance to help get homes and donations for many of their four legged friends.

"This event does a fantastic job for not only creating great entertainment with talented dog surfers but also for raising awareness and support for a host of animal groups in Orange County and beyond", said SoCal Beaches Magazine spokesperson Mark Fitzgerald.

The Surf City Surf Dog event is put on by Book That Event which is a full service event marketing and management firm specializing in running and walking events, expos, golf tournaments and other participatory events.  

This is one of three annual dog surfing events now gaining momentum and support along the California coast and the dogs and their owners are seeing a huge amount of media coverage and also increased skill in their dogs on the surfboards.
