| Blythe Valley Park Charity Fun Run raises more than £3,000The seventh annual Blythe Valley Park Charity Fun Run has helped raise more than £3,000 for two Solihull charities.
Entry fees collected by organisers Liberty Property Trust UK, which manages the park, and Shirley Lions Club are to be split equally between this year’s chosen charities Breast Friends Solihull and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. First over the line in the 10km race was Andy Halliday in a time of 36 mins 10 secs followed by runner-up Simon Fenn (39-01) and Andy Money (40-05), while Amanda O’Leary took the women’s honours. The 5km race was won by Ian Lahart in 18 mins 39 secs with Emma Cakebread the fastest woman over the line. Thomas Halil and Grace Carpenter won the best fancy dress competition for their cavemen costumes while there were also prizes for oldest runner, 76-year-old Margaret Ann Smith and youngest competitor, five-year-old Byron Kenny.
