IRIE! dance theatre Launches New Website

Sept. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- IRIE! dance theatre has launched a new website - one which it hopes is far more user-friendly than the old and one which, in the medium-long term, will be more beneficial to the dance community, in particular the African and Caribbean dance community.

It was decided to create a new website when an assessment of the old website revealed numerous fundamental flaws.  There were several elements that were ineffective and the website was built on a platform that was not optimal for the company's needs.  It was time for change.

Artistic Director, Beverley Glean said:

"The old website simply wasn't working for us.  It was difficult to navigate, difficult to update and too many essentials of the website were broken.  We had to find a solution fast.  Fortunately, we had someone in-house who said that they could provide a solution."

The new website was built by one of IRIE! dance theatre's Board members, Nickolove Lovemore who said:

"The new website is simply designed, yet it is easy to navigate and is far more functional and flexible than the former website.  It also allows users to interact with IRIE! with far greater ease.  Naturally, it's also easy to update."

While there is still a lot of content to add to the new website it was decided to go live anyway.

"Though the new website isn't complete as yet we believe it provides a better experience for the user and attempting to update the old while creating the new was not the best use of our resources.  There are exciting things planned for the new website.  So we hope that our users will be patient and will appreciate that this is a work in progress."

It's an especially busy time for the company at present.  The company has just begun a new Dance Yourself Fit program with Soca Aerobics and African Dance classes; a new After School Club for 5-10 year olds is about to start; a new IRIEAdults dance program has just started; and the company in partnership with the Kon-Kon-Te cultural group will be presenting a special program for Black History Month called Make History Work (http://www.MakeHistoryWork.org).

Plus a new academic year for its Dance Foundation Degree, a program which is run in partnership with City & Islington College and London Metropolitan University is about to begin.  The Dance Foundation Degree program is currently the only program of its kind where African and Caribbean dance have equal status alongside Ballet and Contemporary Dance.  And there's more.
