Sept. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Marianne Houle from Falher, Alberta has been contemplating recording Grandmother Savard's tips for weaving for a number of years.  Just recently, while attending the Ultimate Internet Boot Camp, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Marianne has found the method to use in order to document these lessons; A Website and a Blog.

Grandmother Savard has been weaving since she was a young girl, and came to settle in the area with her family.  She has taught many other ladies to weave and make necessary items for their homes.  Grandma Savard has passed this knowledge on to her grand-daughter, Marianne, who in turn will pass the knowledge to future generations through video and documents.

The family owns a number of looms from 35 inches wide to a two-person 120" loom. Marianne, her grandmother Leonide Savard, her mother, Helene and Aunt Angele, take their turns making baby blankets, dish towels and rugs, which are mostly given away as gifts to appreciative recipients, or made special order for clients. Marianne also makes table cloths on a borrowed loom.  Materials used are mainly yarns and cotton thread, but some items are made with recycled materials, such as strips of worn bed sheets and old jeans.

"I am looking forward to interviewing my grandmother and videotaping the steps required to mounting a loom and getting it ready for a weaving project.  Choosing the appropriate materials and pattern are also just as important to making a beautiful piece of art." says Marianne
