By: Lai Har Cheung “I realize that I've been very fortunate in my life, and I've received excellent mentorship and coaching which I’m so grateful for,” Cheung said. “I want to show young people that you can work in community organizations, achieve your personal goals and find success if you are willing to tap into your personal power and get involved with community issues.” The site is located at http://www.FunFierceFab.com . Cheung is in the early stages of building content for the site and is focusing on dating advice for now. She expects to incorporate more topics and voices to sustain a vibrant community around the website. “This is not about ego, there is a lot to learn from other folk’s mistakes, especially mine that young people can benefit from” Cheung said. “My story is about the slow journey to empowerment, but I do think that more stories like mine need to be heard, to give young people more role models.” The website discusses Cheung’s dedication to community and youth, how she found her mentors and how came to meet her life partner, why she donates her time, energy and money to community change institutions and her vision for the future. Cheung is a noted figure in the Asian American and youth empowerment community. She started out as a 14 years old volunteer for an Asian American community organization. She was asked to join their board of directors by age 16. Then she joined other young people to start 3 more youth serving organizations by age 19. She continued to take on leadership roles to improve the quality of life of youth. Then she furthered her expertise by learning about holistic health practices to help her serve the community more thoroughly. She’s decided now to reach more Asian Americans, youth, and community leaders by communicating over the internet. While the broad outline of her story is widely known, Cheung has never before discussed the ideals that has shaped her life and decisions. The biography/ lifestyle advice site will be updated regularly with new blog posts and videos about how she turned her mistakes and conditioning into wisdom, insights, and success. “I learned by trial and error,” Cheung said. “I hope that this site will help other young Asian Americans learn from my experiences and make better decisions while they are creating a life of fulfillment and fun, that’s why it’s called FunFierceFab!” “I think it's important for leaders to share their stories so that the next generation can profit from our experience,” Read Lai Har Cheung’s' Blog http://www.FunFierceFab.com and follow her on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ --- end --- # # # About FunFierceFab: End
