SKINovative Houston introduces the HydraFacial

The HydraFacial can give laser-like results for skin rejuvenation without the downtime, expense or risk of burning, even for darker skin types.

Sept. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Houston, TX -  Needles, chemicals, voodoo? When it comes to getting perfect skin, women have tried it all. Too bad the results (constant irritation, sudden redness, skin scaling off for a week) aren’t nearly as bewitching as the methods. That's because most facial peels use strong acids which while effective, can require lots of down time. But that's not the case with the new peel and facial rejuvenation system now available at SKINovative at the Galleria. It's called the HydraFacial.

The HydraFacial system combines the benefits of deep exfoliation and chemical peels into a one-step resurfacing procedure that virtually eliminates ugly scaling of the skin after the treatment.

Up until a short time ago, micro-dermabrasion was considered to be the most effective method of exfoliation and mild skin rejuvenation. This  form of exfoliation uses a powerful device to spray micro crystals of aluminum dioxide across the skin's surface to blast away the uppermost layer of epidermis, mixing with suction to remove the outer layer of skin while stimulating collagen and elastin production.

As good as it sounds, this method is not recommended for all skin types. Those individuals with sensitive ski or ethnic skin types were turned away due to potential adverse reactions such as scarring, hyper-pigmentation and irritation. A small percentage of those who did receive treatment reported discomfort around sensitive tissue such as the mouth and nose and a hyper-sensitivity to sun exposure.

HydraFacial treatments yield a beautiful, even skin-tone, reduce the sloughing and irritation caused by manual acid peel skin resurfacing, and minimize downtime so clients can return to normal activities immediately after each treatment. Skin resurfacing is accomplished without the usual "splotchiness" seen after traditional acid peels

"We use it to lighten hyperpigmentation. The HydraFacial is also  excellent for sun damage, fine lines, skin texture and treatment of acne," says Chris Bailey, Director of SKINovative.

The HydraFacial uses color-coded tips to exfoliate, clean, hydrate and perform extractions on the skin at the same time. "It's different in the sense that you don't have the peeling. You may see a little bit of flaking for a day, but that's it. You will look normal, you can go to work, whatever you like. There is no real down time," says Chris.

"My sunspots are gone, my skin just looks a lot clearer. I get a lot of compliments and everyone's always asking me what is different," said a recent client.
