Live-Audience Airing of Radio Show to Benefit Single Parent Resource Center

Sept. 8, 2010—(Boynton Beach, FL) The Coach Judy Live Talk Radio Show will air a live-audience fundraising show on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010 at 5pm EST. The weekly program, which benefits National Single Parent Resource Center, will feature mental health and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) advocate, Michele Rosenthal. During the live event, Rosenthal will educate listeners about how to recognize symptoms of PTSD and what to do about it.

National Single Parent Resource Center (NSPRC) was created after its founder, Judy Romanoff, faced numerous challenges as a single parent, such as dealing with the legal system, a long-fought custody battle, and all of the stress and anxiety that can come from this common family crisis. Without the support of other organizations and parents who offered valuable information and support, though, she may not have fared so well. Romanoff was inspired to create NSPRC to help other families avoid the common pitfalls of single-parent families.

Often when the family dynamic begins to break down, the mental health of both parents and children can be greatly affected. Traumatic incidents in the home, stress and anger can lead to drug addition, abusive behavior, crime and more. Even long after the worst is over and some normalcy begins to settle in, the symptoms of post-traumatic stress can take hold. Too often, they continue undiagnosed. According to Michele Rosenthal, ―It’s very common for symptoms of PTSD – which include insomnia, nightmares, emotional numbing, flashbacks and hyper vigilance – to be ignored. People don’t recognize that what they’re feeling is a diagnosable problem, so they don’t seek help with it. Unfortunately, this allows the effects of PTSD to increase over time and so a person struggles longer and more acutely than necessary.

The Sept. 28 airing of Romanoff’s Coach Judy Live Talk Show will feature Rosenthal, whose segment will specifically touch upon the topics of PTSD causes, symptoms and treatment options. The live show airs from 5pm to 6pm nationwide and in more than 180 countries.

Seating is limited; RSVP is recommended by calling (561) 441-8557. The doors open at 4:30 pm at the Peninsula Bank, 1501 Corporate Drive, Boynton Beach, FL., for the local community to meet some of the leaders. A $10 donation is requested for being a part of the live audience. Additional donations begin at $1 and
up. Businesses who donate $99 will become a member of the association’s business directory. Larger donations will be offered sponsorships. Coach Judy is diligently looking for additional resources and sponsors on the national and local level for families to hear about the show.
