Sept. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Today, the APATS 2010 conference concluded in Kuala Lumpur.  This was the 6th year that the Asia Pacific Airline Training Symposium has been held.  Representing Sunrise Aviation at APATS 2010 was Patrick Murphy, Director of Training, who joined nearly 300 other delegates from Asia and the Pacific Region and around the world.  The event was held over the period of September 14th and 15th.

APATS 2010 had a number of themes.  Technology development and its affect on training and operations was one theme.  Training methods for the new generation of pilots was another.  Competency Based Training, Evidence-Based Training, regulator training, results from several MPL (multi-crew pilot licensing) programs were all topics of discussion.  Other presentations included lessons learned from recent major airline accidents.   Like most of the recent APATS conferences, interest remained high in Aviation English training and testing.  Presenters included representatives from the FAA, Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong, Mandala Airlines (Malaysia), Mesaba Airlines, Airbus, Boeing, CAE, and several flight schools based in the Asia Pacific Region.

Nearly 40 exhibitors were present at APATS 2010.  Exhibitors included 10 companies with ab initio pilot training programs, 8 simulator manufacturers, one aircraft manufacturer, and numerous CBT developers and other educators.

The location for APATS 2010 was Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  The exhibits and all conference meetings were held at the recently renovated Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.  This was the first time the symposium had been held in Malaysia.  Next year APATS 2011 will return to Hong Kong.
