Sept. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- In the summer of 2009 Microsoft shocked the gaming world at the E3 conference when they announced their newest product, an accessory for the Xbox 360 (previously coded "Project Natal) now renamed "Kinect".

While the novelty of Wii is wearing off, Kinect takes things a step forward where playing games is possible without a controller. Imagine an era in entertainment where you can watch a movie without a remote or play a game without a controller.

How does it really work?

Like the Wii sensor, Kinect uses motion tracking camera which you place near you TV and plug in into your Xbox 360. The main difference is that Kinect truly scans your whole body motion and even picks up your movements and synchronize those in the game; meaning that you don’t even need a controller in your hands as your whole body is indeed the controller.

If you want to select something from the actual onscreen menu all you need to do is lift your hand and motion which icon or games you want to choose; just like the scene we’ve seen in the film “Minority Report’. If you are playing a racing game you merely place the hands as if you are holding a steering wheel! There’s no need to actually purchase an additional steering wheel add-on! That’s the magic of Kinect.

If that superior movement technology isn’t awesome enough, what about speech recognition? Yes, surprisingly, Kinect is able to comprehend voice instructions by using advanced speech recognition software.

Kinect is set to be released just in time for Christmas this November 4 along with a cool set of Kinect games featuring the Pop of King Michael Jackson: The Experience. This technology definitely has the possibility of revolutionizing the video game market. We are excited for all of the possibilities of video gaming and what new sorts of games they will come up with to utilize Kinect.
