Sept. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- "The Buddha and the Dream of America", the latest book by James Hilgendorf, has now been published as an ebook on Amazon.com and is available for buying and downloading for the Kindle reader and other readers.

Buddhist ideas and insights are interwoven throughout the book, but the book is not just about Buddhism, but also about the real meaning and future of America, which is yet to be fulfilled.

"The Buddha and the Dream of America" is a collection of 60 short pieces, dealing with topics as diverse as Thoreau and Whitman, to recollections of his father, to encouraging pieces directed at the youth of America,  to death and eternal life.

The pieces are poetic in style, and poetic in the sense that the author is attempting to penetrate beneath the surface appearance of things to the deeper movements underlying all of our lives.

The book is about dreams - dreams of life and death, dreams of individuals, dreams of a greater America which has been expressed from time to time, here and there, but never fully realized.

The book is also about religion, and specifically the religion needed for the future and the coming global civilization.  Hilgendorf feels that the essence of what is needed in such a religion of the future is best represented by Nichiren Buddhism, as practiced by the Soka Gakkai International, a lay Buddhist organization currently with about 13,000,000 members in 192 countries.

The book is also about the human revolution needed within each individual if we are to usher in a new humanistic age.

He writes:

"There is a revolution coming.

"And as it reveals itself in the mind of each man and woman, the mountains will fall and shift, chasms will open, the deserts will run with rivers, beautiful blooms will burst from dry dust, suns will sprout in the sky, animals and birds dance, the nuclear force of ten million stars will break forth with light, and the minds of men and women will reflect in every aspect of their lives the halls and mirrors of Eternity.

"The Buddha and the Dream of America" is available on Amazon.com as an ebook for $4.99, or as a paperback for $12.95.  The paperback edition can also be purchased online at the website of the publisher, The Tribute Series, at http://www.tributeseries.com.

James Hilgendorf is also the author of three other books, "Life & Death: A Buddhist Perspective"; "The Great New Emerging Civilization"; and "The New Superpower".  All of his books are available through the Tribute Series and as paperbacks or ebooks from Amazon.com.
