Steuben Announces “Big 5” Promotion to Benefit African Wildlife Foundation

Sept. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Steuben, http://www.steuben.com, has joined up with the African Wildlife Foundation to help protect the wild habitats of the legendary African Big 5 Safari animals. A new crystal animal collection, cause related social engagement, a gala event and Safari Sweepstakes will all come together to save these wild safari animal favorites.

As the finest maker of pure crystal, Steuben is pleased to introduce The Big 5 Collection.  The new Crystal animal collection will feature three new crystal design; the Rhinoceros,  Leopard and Cape Buffalo. Along with two of their most popular designs, Elephant and Royal Lion, these five Safari animals will make up the complete Big 5 Collection,.  Game hunters originated the phrase, Big 5, in reference to these five animals, as they were the most ferocious and hard to capture.  Now the term refers to the favored animals to see on a safari.  

Proceeds from The Big 5 Collection to Benefit the African Wildlife Foundation

The Big 5 Collection will be unveiled at a gala event in New York City on September 28th 2010. The Steuben sponsor event will be hosted by Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover, runway model and AWF Goodwill Ambassador Veronica Varekova.

To support these animals natural habitat, starting in September through December 10% of all proceeds from these designs will benefit the African Wildlife Foundation, the leading conservation organization focused solely on the African continent. Since its inception in 1961, the AWF has protected endangered species and the land and habitat they depend on; promoted partnerships with the private sector to benefit local communities as a means to improve livelihoods, and trained hundreds of African nationals in conservation – all to ensure the survival of Africa’s unparalleled wildlife heritage.

The Big 5 crystal animal designs will be available through all Steuben Glass’ flagship store in NYC, www.steuben.com, 1-800-STUEBEN, as well as select regional partners throughout the country.
