New Executive Director Named at Miller Family YMCA in Newbury Park

Sept. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- NEWBURY PARK, CALIF.--Katie Beck, previously the Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator for the Miller Family YMCA in Newbury Park, is returning as the Y's executive director, according to Rick Politte, president/CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, which includes the Miller YMCA and three other YMCA branches.

   Beck will manage programs and operations at the 18,000 square foot facility at 320 Via Las Brisas in the Dos Vientos portion of Newbury Park. Beck will be responsible for overseeing the management of programs, facilities, volunteers and staff and to ensure the Y meets the needs of its members, program participants and the surrounding community. As a YMCA branch executive director, Beck will also be responsible for ensuring that the YMCA mission and values are carried out by staff and volunteers during all daily activities

   "Katie brings a wealth of YMCA experience to the Miller Family YMCA. Her expertise in healthy living and membership development will contribute to building a stronger and healthier community in Newbury Park," says Politte. "Volunteers and staff were 'wowed' with her personality, communication and practical vision for the YMCA in the community. She will position the YMCA as a community partner in youth development, health living and social responsibility."

   Beck spent several years at the North Valley Family YMCA in Porter Ranch where she served as Senior Program Director of Healthy Lifestyles & Membership and Member Relations Coordinator. She was responsible for budgeting, managing and training staff, creating community outreach programs, recruiting and motivating volunteers.
