NELCO Exhibits at ESTRO, Showcasing Their Innovative Shielding Solutions

Products being showcased include their MegaShield System, a modular vault solution, Radiation Therapy Sliding Door systems, and Radiation Therapy Swing Door systems.

Always an innovator in the industry, NELCO has recently created a modular vault system, called MegaShield.  Unlike past modular vault systems, the MegaShield is truly re-locatable.  The vaults are created from channel-locked concrete blocks, which are then dry-stacked, allowing for future removal.  The MegaShield system has proven to be time saving, as well as effective – because the blocks come cured, there is no waiting around for drying time, reducing the schedule significantly.  NELCO recently installed this system at the Bracknell Healthspace.  

NELCO’s Radiation Therapy Slide Doors systems are a unique solution to the problems of heavier door systems, while increasing vault space.  These door systems shield for direct beam placement, making a maze unnecessary in the vault.  Not only does this free more space, but maximizes patient throughput.    

NELCO’s Radiation Therapy Swing Door systems are another solution for Radiation Therapy vaults and HDR treatment rooms.  These doors have an offset hinge, allowing for a full 1.21 meter opening, large enough for most equipment to fit through.  This design provides a less intimidating, more patient friendly appearance as well.
