Sept. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- The Three-Generation Golf Academy is a first rate institution that is designed to turn young golfers from  the Asia-Pacific region into college-level players.

Team Elite players are a part of a growing trend in golf.  Elite junior players with college or professional aspirations are selected by the Director of Golf and are eligible for both educational and boarding scholarships based on their golfing abilities and commitment.

Established in 2001, PTIS International School (formerly known as The Prem Tinsulonada International School) has become one of the leading boarding schools in Asia and is ranked among the best international schools in Thailand. It is also the only school offering the full complement of an International Baccalaureate (IB) program outside of Bangkok.

The campus provides a safe and secure environment, rural Thai charm, boarding and visitors accommodations, a spacious on-site academic facility, extensive sports fields, Olympic-sized pool, tennis, football and cricket academies, a well-resourced library, several dining choices and the well equipped golf learning center.

The Three-Generation Golf Academy (TGGA) offers their players the knowledge for power and precision so they may reach their own personal level of excellence. The use of Pro V1 Professional video analysis and precision instruction provides a sure path towards that goal. Combined with an IB education young golfers now have a complete package to enhance their future.

A member of the Team Elite

The advanced golf instruction takes place at the Three-Generation Golf Academy located on the campus of the Traidhos Three-Generation Community for Learning in Mae Rim, Thailand; the only golf learning center in Northern Thailand associated with an IB educational facility.

Our mission is to help prepare junior golfers to compete in regional,  national and international level tournaments which will enable graduates to play in college, earn college scholarships and possibly turn professional.

The core competency of the TGGA is to recognize and respect each student’s individuality. Their approach is to get the student to commit to long-term athletic development, incorporating all aspects of training into a successful path to becoming the best athlete possible. This is all possible through the personally trained and knowledgeable staff of Spike Collier, Director of Golf and Head Coach for the Team Elite players.

The TGGA teaches an instructional program based on Homer Kelley's book, “The Golfing Machine (TGM)”  which focuses on analyzing golfers' swings and helping them make corrections to improve their game. The approach is to teach students individually based upon their specific needs. TGGA believes the common denominators that all great players share are based in the Laws of Force and Motion, the true fundamentals of golf.

Spike’s knowledge of golf swing components has enabled him to create a very understandable teaching program that helps players improve and realize their potential.  As each Team Elite player thinks, feels and observes the world differently, Spike is able to identify each student’s individual needs in order to implement a plan for self development. Having knowledge of the swing is a very important asset for an accomplished player to have. One of their goals is to teach the student to be their own best coach and to to be able to identify and diagnose their own game and understand what their personal strengths and weaknesses are. We want our players to “own” their swing.

Golf is a game where one never stops learning. Staying true to their motto “Giving you the Knowledge for Power and Precision” TGGA will increase a players knowledge on the short game, full swing, course management, self management and building a belief system.

The full time academy is a ten-month program split into two semesters, which begins early-August. The second semester starts back up in mid-January. Monday through Friday the day is spent in classes and two hours after school is dedicated to golf instruction.

In addition to the academy schedule, students may play in the Mercedes Trophy Championships, True Vision Junior Golf Championships and Northern Thailand Junior Golf Championship (NTJGC) events. Although tournament play is an additional cost from the Academy’s tuition, TGGA staff assistance is offered to the players to help organize and determine what tournament best suites their stage of play, schedule and financial means.

Teaching Philosophy

Through a supportive and competitive environment, the TGGA develops the qualities of commitment, goal setting and confidence for each student’s personal, academic, and athletic growth. Spike’s  dedication to teaching and coaching, on and off the course, helps juniors become champions. The growing interest in golf development, mental conditioning and physical training, are also implemented into the Team Elite training as they are important tributes for today’s golf athletes who want to play more competitively. The goal is to offer juniors the opportunity to develop into accomplished athletes, successful at the collegiate level and beyond.

Although the academy does not have a golf course on-site, on-course instruction remains an integral part of the program. Once a week, team training takes place at a near-by golf course where Spike reinforces swing thoughts and provides in-depth course management. Taking the students on the course covers the more specific techniques that are used in course management and facilitates what is learned during practice to benefit performance. To produce champion golfers they must be capable of managing themselves on and off the course.

TGGA Elite players are trained to practice and compete with a positive, winning attitude that carries over into their tournament play and in every day life.
