Sept. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, D.C., September 13, 2010 – The Lint Center, a non-profit charity based in Aberdeen, Md., awarded the 2010 Jim & Anna Hyonjoo Lint Scholarship to Boris K (name withheld due to US military operational security precautions).  This scholarship is the largest offered by the Center to date and aims to support undergraduate and post-graduate educational pursuits of scholars interested in Counterintelligence, International Affairs, and National Security Studies.

This scholarship provides $1,500 to the winner to assist with tuition and other educational costs, a mentor from the Lint Center, as well as a one year subscription to STRATFOR.

“Boris K has demonstrated a clear commitment to the defense of our nation and his essay on counterinsurgencies comes from a perspective of an experienced individual, with on the ground knowledge who can speak to needed operational and strategic reforms when addressing insurgencies,” said James Lint, Chairman and CEO of the Lint Center for National Security Studies. “The Center was impressed by his military service in the US Army and as a member of a Special Operations Team Alpha during Operation Iraqi Freedom. We are pleased to support this winner and expect him to continue to excel.”

His winning essay about defeating future insurgencies and the need for America to “adopt a fundamentally new, exponentially more cost-effective way of counterinsurgency” highlights the challenges that lay ahead in the years to come.
