God calls and three kids follow -- all the way to Peru

Sept. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Thousand Oaks, CA    How can people communicate with each other when they don’t speak the same language?   Did you know that Jesus taught us that LOVE is the universal language everybody understands?

Journey along with Natalie, Riley, and Griffin– three kids from Thousand Oaks, CA who are committed to following the call of Christ. They may not speak fluent Spanish, but they are able to communicate perfectly with under-privledged children in Peru by showing them that God’s Love is always with us.

Natalie, Riley and Griffin are God's Pack Leaders.  They traveled this summer with a 20 member team to Peru and visited a church in Pachacamac where they taught Vacation Bible School to 150 children.  

Natalie, 14, has been on six mission trips to Peru.  Natalie believes the message the mission team brings of God's love is reaching these children.  Natalie says, "I've seen many of these kids grow up, and though they're poor, they keep coming back to the Church; they still joyfully worship God."

The team also made stops in Lima, Machu Picchu and Cuzco.  In Cuzco, they visited the Huch'uy Runa orphanage and delivered much needed supplies.  The young children at the orphanage generate income by making crafts like clay sculptures and wooden puzzles to sell at local markets.  The Huch'uy Runa ministry also works with about 200  street children.  Every day the children come to the orphanage and receive schooling, meals and medical services.

Each member of Mission Peru 2010 raised donations to cover the cost of airfare, transportation,  lodging and foods.  In addition, the team brought to Peru five thousand dollars to give to Christian ministries.
