Sept. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- In the summer of 2009, wind energy was a foreign topic to most Nebraskans. Just one year later, it’s a topic making headlines and generating excitement about the possibility of Nebraska becoming a powerhouse in the wind energy industry.

Parsons Marketing | PR | Design of Lincoln, Neb., has been instrumental in putting wind energy on the map, according to Tim Geisert, president of the newly formed Nebraska Energy Export Association. The NEEA includes representatives from the Nebraska Farm Bureau and Nebraska Cattlemen, and others who want to maximize opportunities to develop a uniquely abundant natural resource in the state and revitalize communities.

“Parsons’ ability to create a buzz was significant,” he said. “There’s a lot of interest now. Nebraska has an ‘open for wind energy development’ sign on the front porch and people are showing up.”

Nebraskans are looking to the state’s wind energy potential and so too is the world, said Gov. Dave Heineman. “International companies are fostering new employment opportunities and inspiring new generations to call Nebraska home.”

The first task at hand for Parsons Marketing/PR/Design, which was brought on board by NEEA attorney Andy Pollock, was to develop a strategy to create awareness about the opportunity Nebraska was missing to produce renewable energy and create jobs.

“A recent study shows that Nebraska ranks fourth in the nation for the greatest energy potential from wind power, but is 22nd in the nation in actual production of wind energy,” said Pollock. “Parsons helped form, manage and brand the NEEA to bring interested parties together and develop a platform to begin educating the state about the incredible wind energy opportunities that were passing us by.”

By creating a groundswell of interest and support across the state through traditional and social media outreach, marketing, informational town hall meetings and government relations, Parsons’ strategy garnered the support needed to pass LB 1048, a 2010 bill designed to attract wind energy companies.

“Dan Parsons’ extensive experience in communications and his connections with community leaders and lawmakers across Nebraska were invaluable,” said Geisert. “He brought a high level of professionalism and credibility to our efforts.”

Recently, Parsons organized a media tour on behalf of a potential wind development project in Western Nebraska.

“It looks like your communication went around the world,” said Bud Leigh, president of Green Oak Renewables in Bad Axe, Michigan. “I have received comments from Denmark, The UK, South Korea and even the TV 5 nightly news in Saginaw, Michigan.”

Parsons Marketing |PR |Design looks forward to continuing its role in marketing and promoting wind energy in the state.

“Nebraska is our home; we’ve raised our family and grown our business here,” said Parsons, CEO. “We have a vested interest in helping our state take advantage of an abundant, clean energy source that will benefit not only our state but our nation.”

Parsons Marketing |PR |Design has the experience and knowledge to provide public relations, marketing and advertising services to wind developers, investor groups, manufacturing, and others who are interest in the promising future of Nebraska wind energy, he said.
