Sept. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- In the Globe and Mail article, Margaret Atwood criticizes Stephen Harper's dictatorial approach to regulating the airwaves.

Ms Atwood reminds Canadians to be vigilant when safeguarding their Civil, Human and Democratic Rights and Freedoms from continual erosion by the State.

“Prime Minister Harper is trying to push American-style hate media onto our airwaves, and make us all pay for it.

His plan is to create a ‘...Fox News North’ to mimic the kind of hate-filled propaganda with which Fox News has poisoned U.S. politics.

The channel will be run by Harper’s former top aide and will be funded with money from our cable TV fees!”

As Didi Miesen says: "ignorance of the facts and TRUTH - are what allows - discrimination and hatred toward ones fellow human beings to take root and to flourish."

We must do everything in our power to making sure that the truth of the equality of all religious faiths and living beings of all ethnic backrounds prevails.

Advocating for equal rights and equal treatment for all Canadians of all backgrounds, visitors and newcomers to Canada is one way of spreading the TRUTH of equality for everyone in Canada.

Karen Selick, Litigation Director for the Canadian Constitution Foundation: "The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms appears to provide a good foundation for liberty, enshrining it as a right that cannot be infringed by the state unless the infringement is both reasonable and “demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.”

Ms Selick explains to  Canadians that Judges have increasingly taken away our constitutional freedoms.

"If we don’t want to end up with full-fledged authoritarianism ourselves, it’s time for the courts to re-think those late 80s decisions and realize that yes, liberty under the Charter must be synonymous with unconstrained freedom, and the state must bear the burden in every single case of demonstrating why violating liberty is justified."

If you agree that hate propaganda has no place in Canada, sign the online petition urging CRTC chair Konrad von Finckelstein to stand by his decision to block a Canadian Fox News channel.
