DHS Secretary Napolitano to Speak at NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

Sept. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- National Homeland Defense Foundation President Don Addy announced today that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will speak at the NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM on Homeland Security and Defense™ on Thursday, October 28, 2010.

Secretary Napolitano’s comments at the Symposium will address military leaders, homeland security professionals, and industry experts on cyber security, infrastructure resiliency, and energy enterprise protection. Dealing with these issues is at the core of the Department’s role in leading the concerted national effort to ensure a homeland that is safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards.

“We are extremely pleased that Secretary Napolitano will be speaking at the Symposium and welcome her to the podium,” said Addy.  “Her comments will resonate with our attendees and provide them with information and guidance they can use to direct their activities supporting DHS programs,” he said.  

Janet Napolitano is the third Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and is leading our nation's collective efforts to secure our country from the threats we face - from terrorism to natural disasters.  To counter the threat of terrorism, Napolitano has forged new partnerships with international allies, and expanded information sharing with federal, state and local law enforcement - building a collaborative effort to detect and disrupt threats early on. Prior to joining President Obama’s Cabinet, Secretary Napolitano was serving in her second term as Governor of Arizona and the first woman to chair the National Governors Association. Previously, she served as Arizona Attorney General and as U.S. Attorney for Arizona.

The NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM on Homeland Security and Defense™ is the nation’s leading public forum on homeland security and homeland defense.  The 2010 symposium is the eighth annual conference organized by the National Homeland Defense Foundation.   The symposium features international experts discussing the latest research, operations and policies affecting homeland security and defense.
