Known for her strong support and dedication to those at risk of getting lost in the legal system and described as “the people’s judge,” Judge Karen is currently the only black female judge on television. “The positive response I’ve received from my community and across the country has been phenomenal; I’m really looking forward to a new season of guests and cases,” says Judge Karen. Described as “the most colorful judge on TV,” by The Los Angeles Times, Judge Karen who originally debuted on September 8, 2008 in 48 of the top 50 U.S. markets is known for her trademark burgundy robes and blonde hair along with her razor-sharp wit and compassionate heart. Audiences to date have embraced Judge Karen’s feisty personality and passionate advocacy for families and children. Along with the new season, Judge Karen has also released her first book; “STAY IN YOUR LANE: A Guide to Living Your Best Life,” published by Random House. The book is an inspiring and motivational book of anecdotal essays aimed at uplifting and advising readers towards a happier and healthier existence is available on in-stores and online, has garnered tremendous accolades. Judge Karen Mills-Francis is the first African-American judge from the South Florida area to have a nationally syndicated show. Born and raised in Miami, Mills-Francis graduated from Miami Northwestern High School. She earned her undergraduate degree at Bowdin College in Brunswick, Maine and got her law degree from the University of Florida.
