Kashi Honors Neem Karoli Baba’s Mahasamadhi

Sept. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Everyone is invited to attend a Fire Puja on Saturday, September 11 at 6PM at the Baba Temple at Kashi Ashram to honor the passing of our Paramguru, Neem Karoli Baba, a Hindu saint who left his body in 1973. Kashi founder Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati will speak about Baba and will lead a meditation.
Also known to devotees as Maharaj-ji, Baba is a devotee of Hanuman, the Hindu deity who embodies selfless service. One of Baba’s main teachings is “feed everyone,” which is manifested at Kashi in the River Fund’s Feed Everyone program, serving hundreds of people in need.
Baba is known in the West for being the guru of a number of Americans who travelled to India in the 1960s and 1970s, including Ram Dass, the author of Be Here Now; devotional singer Bhagavan Das; Lama Surya Das, the author of "Awakening the Buddha Within;" and the musicians Jai Uttal and Krishna Das. Julia Roberts has also said she is a follower of Neem Karoli Baba.
