Mayor Taps the Keg, Red Bank’s Largest Yodeling Lesson, and Kids’ Games Highlight the Afternoon
Red Bank Mayor (Bürgermeister) Pasquale Menna kicks off the day with a 12:00 p.m. ceremonial “tapping of the keg,” followed by an afternoon of contemporary and traditional German music and folk dancing, a Swiss Alphorn player, Red Bank’s largest yodeling lesson, a beer stein race, sack races, a pretzel toss, a 50/50, kids activities and more.  A traditional German buffet will feature a variety of authentic foods including sausages (wursts), leberkäse, potato salad, spätzle, red cabbage, sauerkraut, potato pancakes and desserts, as well as beer imported from Munich.
“We have a two-fold reason for celebrating Oktoberfest – first to support the Monmouth County German School, which relies solely on private funding to provide German language lessons to students to ages 2 through 72, and to fund the only multi-media German language library in the state,” says Middletown resident, German School managing director, and mother of two Dorothea Drew.  “Indeed, we offer classes for students at a levels to prepare them for graduation and for the global economy.”
Advance tickets that include the buffet and activities are $25.00/adult and $10.00/children 16 and under.  Additional adult beverages  are sold at the bar separately.  Limited tickets at the door are $30.00/adult, $10.00/children.  Please call 1-888-368-5300 or email info@germanschoolmc.org for tickets.  Check: www.OktoberfestRedBank.com for updates.
